Southern Cross Spitfires is a thoroughly fascinating read. It is so very Australian and an exceptional and factual piece of our recorded history. The author describes the appalling conditions and how that came about and has captured that unique Aussie Spirit and camaraderie in both the air and ground crew. Along with historical photographs, much informative and valuable data is included but the reader does not get ‘lost’ in technicalities and is expertly transported back to that time.
I finished this book with a great feeling of pride and admiration for that generation of young and brave men who gave so much of themselves. Through this well researched book, the author has given life to those who have passed on and I am proud to have it as part of my library.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]
