John Larew, while a legendary character in our history is, more often than not, mentioned only in passing. As such, he was one of those Australians who aroused your curiosity, yet remained somewhat of a mystery. 'We Who Are About To Die' brings John Larew to life. The beauty of this biography is that the context of the events in which Larew lived is so well drawn, and the attention to detail so precise that the reader can almost sense the events of his life unfold. It is an excellent contribution to our understanding of John Larew and the era in which he lived. It is also a great read.
